Conservation

My background is in zoology, so conservation has always been incredibly important to me. That is why I wanted to create a Green Label range. These are items that I have designed specifically with conservation in mind, and 10% of the sale price from these items will be donated to charities appropriate to the design.

My three orangutan designs were the first I wanted to include in this range, as these cheeky, charming apes are close to my heart. I was lucky enough to work with them in Borneo in 2019, and I am still involved in their conservation.

The One Hundred Giraffes logo on Green Label items is printed in green ink.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to learn more about charitable giving at One Hundred Giraffes.

I will always be looking to add more items to the Green Label range, so if you are involved with a conservation charity and would be interested in a collaboration, do get in touch.

Sustainability

I create all the designs in Bath, UK, and hand-print all of them as prototypes in my studio. Once ready, the stock is then hand-printed at Memory Screen, also in Bath.

Only water-based inks are used, which are environmentally-friendly, and provide a soft feel. They are water-soluble, requiring no chemicals to clean them from equipment, and they contain no plastics.

Before printing, the garments are manufactured in Southern India, in state-of-the-art facilities powered by green, renewable energy (wind and solar power). The garments are climate-neutral, and only low-impact, organic raw materials from India are used. They are dyed in a zero-discharge dyehouse, where all water is recycled in a closed-loop system.

This production process runs in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and is certified under the Soil Association, whilst complying with the Fair Wear Foundation’s Code of Labour Practices.

Packaging

I will always strive to make all aspects of One Hundred Giraffes as sustainable as possible. Items are sent in biodegradable padded envelopes within compostable mailbags. This ensures that your purchases arrive in perfect condition, but that there is also no long-term waste after delivery. The postage labels are made from recycled paper.

Instead of including a compliment slip, each order will arrive to you with a branded bookmark. These are made from recycled card and will nestle snugly into your current read.
